Jealousy has an ugly face

and it's MINE.

You see -- through my school we have this fantastic opportunity to go to Mexico for a practicum tour.  It costs a God awful amount - but you get to see amazing places and help needy children.  The point of it is to get an idea of how the things that we've been learning are being applied in a real life setting -- plus the bonus of total cultural immersion.

I. Want. To. Go.

Alas -- money is tight, and I've sketched this Mexico Practicum into my plans for my diploma year -- it will be a "graduation gift" to myself.  But -- one of my school mates, a pretty spunky little lady, is going.  I'm jealous.  I'm so jealous that I'm worried her plane is going to fall out of the sky.  It's bad.

She's blogging about it.  She's called her blog Experiences in a Life Time.  I'm incredibly jealous.  You see...before she started blogging about all of the wonderful places she'll be going to, and things she was going to see, and even the casita that they're staying in (by the way -- casita in that sentence is just dripping with my jealous sarcasm....) before all that, I was fine with it.  Sure, I'd really like to be going now, but I was very apathetic about the whole thing.

Now...I know what I'm missing.

Asalaamu Alaikum

Say masha Allah and know that its not your qadar to go now. Only Allah knows the reason why its best for you to go later. Try to see her blog as a learning experience to learn what to do and not to do once you get the chance to go. Now with all that said I can relate because Facebook drove me nuts with all the trips everyone was taking and as you know I'm no longer on facebook and I'm so much more carefree now. So either use it as a learning experience or slooooowly back away from the computer.

Hethr! I love your honesty! Trust me I was that green last year!
But just think, in two years, you will be able to go and experience this with teachers that you'll (ahem) enjoy! :)

Oh...is "can-you-hear-me-now" going? In that case..the shades of green have substantially lightened.

Yes, "can-you-hear-me-now" is our main instructor, and our "second in command" is a previous class mate of yours and our very first teacher! :)

APRIL?? Really?? So -- what's her role then?

No not April...Jennifer. April is going as a student (thank goodness...I'll know someone!)

Oh geeze -- I thought you were announcing a new job for April! Jen...it's too bad...I'm sure she's nice, but we just didn't get along in school. Poor thing, I think, will be very controlled by Jane. :(

Don't be jealous! It is going to be dirty and nasty and smell bad... Everybody gonna see you as a "rich American" (although you are not, but you speak American) and try to steal from you or trick you for money... children will be devastated after you leave, wondering where did the "nice smelling lady with soft hands" go, may be they were bad and she does not like them anymore...
Don't be jealous... if you think about it, it is kinda cruel to show those poor (literary and figuratively speaking) orphans what their life could have been like and then drop them back into a dump...
Don't be jealous...

Please comment, please. It makes me feel good, and well -- a woman just likes to feel good every now and then. I may not agree with your comment, it may even tick me off and make me want to delete it...but comment anyway and make my day.
