I am losing my MIND!

Okay, there's the bed bug epidemic happening here in North America.  Stories about stores and theaters in New York being forced to close, stories from friends of friends....rumors at the school.

And then you itch.

I had a bump on my leg.  I scratched it -- and am convinced that I've got bed bugs.  I swear to God, I can feel them crawling on me at night. I cannot sleep.  I just feel their little buggy bodies crawling across my skin.

Sitting here now, in the middle of the day, I imagine them inside my clothes.  I itch, I scratch, I slowly go insane.

I want to call in a pest control expert.  Hubby refuses.  No one else in the house is going mental like me.  No one else thinks that they are here....yet I itch and I scratch.

I cannot get the thought out of my mind.  I am slowly losing my grip on reality!

You're fine ~ stop fretting! Chances are greater that it's a flea bite or a pox. HA! Stay Calamined, my friend.

It is mind over matter!!! Chances are it was an ingrown hair that you scratched and it became irritated! STOP posting these things you are making ME itchy!

Sorry Tina -- I can't help it. I still sit here and scratch. I went over my bed, the seams, the linen, my drawers and books -- EVERYTHING. And what did I find? Not one single iota of evidence of bed bugs.

However, I still itch. I'm still convinced I can feel them crawling on me. The same thing happens any time one of those "lice warnings" come home with my kids -- you know "we found a case of head lice in your child's class" --- I go through about a month of trying to convince myself that I do NOT have lice and running to the mirror every few minutes to check for them.

*shudder*

Hethr, m'dear..your OCD perfectionism is coming to the fore once again, and you're letting your imagination rule the roost (says she who routinely has anxiety attacks over everyday occurrences like getting into a car). Take your antipsychotic pills, have a large glass of whiskey, and count the sparkly pastel spiders on the ceiling...that'll help pass the time till you forget about bedbugs!

*ducking & running*

You wouldn't do well in my college. The nursing students have to do periodic diorama/displays about various illnesses and diseases that occur. This last month has been Lyme Disease. Even I get itchy looking at them in the halls(ticks are creepy up close) The best time is Sexually transmitted infection month... not pretty

Jeremy -- no word of a lie here. My mom once bought a "diagnose YOURSELF" book. I was CONVINCED that I had prostate cancer.

Yup, I got a lice notice from my one of my kids today. Now my head will NOT stop itching. Annoying since I just got over the itching I developed when my dayhome boy had lice back in April. None of us got it from him, thank goodness. But the itching...it is not going away!

You could try adding a few drops tea tree oil to your laundry for a couple weeks - just for peace of mind. That'll kill any non-existent and existent critters you might have.

Oh, and hoover (vacuum) your mattress. And flip it.

I agree with the others that it is probably in your head, but taking some pro-actions might help.

Saw this today on my FB feed and it fits too:

I have CDO -- that's OCD with the letters in the right order they way they belong

@ Camilyn & Mano (whom, I suspect, are one and the same) -- even though your comment is a blatant advertisement, which I usually resent...the thoughtful way that you put it will allow me to leave ONE of them (since they essentially both linked to the same place).

I really think that the power of the mind is an amazing thing. Good luck in your business.

Please comment, please. It makes me feel good, and well -- a woman just likes to feel good every now and then. I may not agree with your comment, it may even tick me off and make me want to delete it...but comment anyway and make my day.
